Farrier Consultations

Many hoof and lameness conditions are best treated when a vet and farrier work closely together.  Orange County Equine will work closely with your farrier to ensure foot and leg health. Often times, radiographs are used to guide trimming and shoeing to optimize the outcome of conditions such as laminitis, club feet, quarter cracks, white line disease, etc.

In addition, many causes of lameness benefit from therapeutic farriery.  After the source of lameness is identified, biomechanics of the affected anatomy is considered and a shoeing plan will be developed to achieve the desired biomechanics. 

We also recommend radiographs and farrier consultations be performed yearly on sound horses to improve biomechanics as many lameness issues can be avoided with proper hoof care.
