We are able to perform a variety of laboratory tests to help diagnose, prevent, and develop an appropriate care plan for your horse.

Serum Amyloid A (SAA) - SAA is a quick, stall side, blood test that we perform to determine if there is infection or inflammation.

Complete Blood Cell Count - This gives us information about the characteristics and quantities of red blood cells and white blood cells.

Chemistry Panel- Measures a variety of values that measure protein, electrolytes, and evaluate internal organ function.

Fecal Egg Count- Done as an in-house exam, this allows us to be more selective with our deworming protocol and reduce the frequency of deworming.

Equine Metabolic Panel- Our metabolic panel was specifically designed with our patients longevity in mind. The metabolic panel includes- ACTH (measure for PPID/Cushing’s Disease), Insulin, Glucose, T4 (Thyroid), and Leptin. Leptin is a hormone measuring internal body fat and aids us in evaluating for equine metabolic syndrome, PPID, and an objective indicator of being overweight or obese.

TRH - Stimulation test for PPID- Testing for PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction) in the early stages of disease to allow for a more accurate diagnosis.

Granulosa Cell Tumor Panel- Granulosa cell tumors are benign tumors that affect a mares ovaries and cause undesirable and irritable behavior, infertility, and are a potential cause of abdominal pain.

Diarrhea/Gastrointestinal PCR- Fecal sample is tested for bacterial and viral causes of diarrhea.

We have access to many other laboratory tests and panels and will recommend as appropriate.
